Stag is friendly gym is small and well organized never overly crowded
Not what I expected from the Gold's Gym standard I'm used to elsewhere.
The staff is friendly, but can't seem to actually care enough to solve the simplest problems from addressing broken machines to the poor weekend hours. I know it's probably convenient for the young staff not to have to be there Sat & Sun, but as a member, it would be nice to have 24 hours or at least close a little later on Saturday and extend Sunday hours. There are a crowd of people waiting every Sunday to get a workout in before the day starts and it's inconvenient. The AC is inadequate during the afternoon and feels hot and muggy, but I'm sure it saves a few bucks every month, but can't be healthy for the older folks. I do like the racquetball and classes, although I never use them. This gym just needs a little better management and it could gain the reputation of what other Gold's gyms around the country have earned. Just seems like a lot of talk and "we'll look into it" and "we'll let the owners know" but nothing changes and they're just as clueless weeks or months later when you ask again, just ask anyone who goes there. This is "Gold's Gym", franchises have standards for a reason, this one hasn't lived up to it. There are cheaper and better alternatives that I sort of wish I stayed with now.
Women's work room is very hot! Was told that unit in that room is not working and has not been repaired! That is not acceptable!
The equipment is old, and there is no available clean water. Sometimes the machines are fixed quickly , but other times a cable machine could be out of order as much as a week or more. I don't understand how they don't offer a month to month option as far as billing options. I travel the country often and other Golds gyms offer $24.99 monthly rates which includes gym amenities. Here in Harlingen everything comes with an extra charge.
I've been attending this gym for a couple of months now. The staff is super friendly and always willing to answer any questions you might have. Great vibes!
