I took 4 of my kids for cleanings. Everytime we went in, we had a great experience. Three of my kids had their braces done and they had no problems.
I've been coming to this practice for over 10 years and this is the 1st time I've been given a bad experience during treatment. Dr. Munoz is horrible! She doesn't bother to greet you by name or introduce herself and is gossiping with her assistants during your dental work! I went for in a cleaning, told me I needed 3 fillings and wisdom teeth removed cause they're not needed, like you just want to get my money. A week later I went for the fillings she recommended and during the procedure, she says "oh you need one more, whoever examined you overlooked this tooth". Like you're the that saw me! She is in a rush, horrible work!
The staff at Harlingen Family Dentistry was extremely professional and polite. They made appointments to accommodate my schedule and kept wait time to a minimum. The dentist who treated me, Dr. David Nuñez, was very calming and patient, and explained every treatment option before proceeding. Once the course of treatment was selected he was very gentle but thorough in completing it. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone seeing good dental care.
The staff was friendly, but aside from that, I had an awful experience. I’ve never had such a bad experience at a dentist before (we were on the pediatric side). I do not feel that I was given an adequate informed consent on the necessity of the procedures they recommended for my son. I had no opportunity to really ask questions and was not given options. They do not allow parents in the room during procedures. I have never been to a dentist that did this, but I do understand that some prefer this. This policy should be posted on the wall and listed in the informed consent. I did not have the opportunity to prepare my child for this. I would not have consented to the procedure if I would have known. I will pay cash and go outside of my insurance network before I go here again. I really did like the dental hygienists, receptionists, etc., though. And the team does move quickly and efficiently.
I love this place, but today my children had cleanings and were getting examined by theyr regular dr and then a dr munoz came out and asked why she wasn't doing the exams on them and looked at my children and the assistant explained because they were another drs patients. Seemed like as if she was just trying to get money. Felt awkward and very unprofessional. This was my first bad experience here.
