As a decades-long customer of this family owned and operated restaurant, we are called by name as we arrive. Newbies are welcomed equally. The staff turn-over rate is very low, as they treat employees with care and respect, also. The foods is consist, homemade, and delicious, though wait times for a table are sometimes, especially at lunch, excessive. Recently, we more often eat dinner here, and there is usually a table available. Dinner specials are all wonderful, most priced at $5.99.
We got out food and it looked great. I ordered a chicken fried steak with fries and was pleasantly surprised. The fries were hot and the chicken fried steak was well seasoned. One dead giveaway of the restaurant will be good is always the tea. The tea was good. Some locations have watered down tea and some have over powering tea. I've even had the misfortune to have eaten @ a restaurant that served old tea. Needless to say I have yet to return to that restaurant. The price of the meal was rather inexpensive.
Every time we come to Harlingen we drive by this restaurant and the parking lot is completely full and a line of people waiting to eat. Today we decided to see what all the commotion was all about and decided to stop by for lunch. The parking lot was full but we were able to find a parking space. There was a line of people to be seated, so the outlook seemed good. We waited about 10 minutes to be seated. Our waitress was polite and friendly. One thing for sure if you are looking for a quiet place to eat, the Las Vegas Cafe is not your place to eat.
The food is awesome. I recommend everyone to eat there. The only thing is that sometimes the wait is long. The waitresses, busboys and cashier are very friendly. Love there fideo con pollo and there enchiladas. They're the bomb. This place is very recommended and very popular.
Not great. Waited 40 minutes, packed parking lot. The ten dinners I had in my party were all unimpressed. First, the wait. Second, no free chips and salsa. Third, they got orders wrong. Fourth and most important was that the food was bland minus lots of grease. All of the dining party agreed that it was in the bottom 20% of Mexican food we have tried.
Absolutely the best food in Harlingen no were can you eat more food for so cheap. $4.99 I don't know how they can serve that much food on a plate and charge you less than five bucks it is absolutely hard to be the number seven gentleman plate for $4.99 for lunch
